The conference 'Challenging the Borders of Fantasy' organized by Higher School of Economics (Moscow, Russia) and the Russian-Polish Institute (Wroclaw, Poland) took place on 18-19 April in Wroclaw, Poland.
Scholars from Russia, Poland, USA and Israel presented papers on various aspects of fantasy as a source for artistic inspiration. Some talks concerned theoretical frontiers and dealt with the possible approaches to fantasy fiction. Other papers looks like as case studies. Conference papers covered different subgenres from high epic fantasy to the newest forms of magical realism.
