PhD thesis ‘“Doctor Zhivago” As a Historical Novel’ by Konstantin Polivanov published as a book, sums up almost twenty years of academic studies dedicated to the famous novel. The book covers genre sources of ‘Doctor Zhivago ’, the correlation between documentary and fictional parts, the problem of prototypes, as well as poetic historiosophy of the novel.
Opponents Michel Aucouturier, Professor Emeritus at the University Paris-Sorbonne and Susanna Witt, Researcher at Uppsala Centre for Russian and Eurasian Studies examined the thesis.
