The Laboratory develops linguistic methods of research in various aspects of culture and interaction between cultural traditions. It aims to bring together specialists working in various human sciences; its core staff consists of linguists who are philologists with a broad background.

The laboratory’s tasks include both theoretical research and specific linguo-semiotic and historical philological studies primarily related to Russian and West European cultural traditions.

The laboratory’s applied work includes the development of information resources dedicated to specific types of medieval written sources
