We welcome papers problematizing Russian literary history as a history of cross-cultural interconnections and influences. This year we added a subtitle to the main focus of the conference: “Literary Canon in Times of Great Changes”, and we hope to pay a special attention to the discussion of the changes of the literary canon under wars and revolutions.

Topics of the papers may include but are not limited to:

- History of canonization of foreign writers in Russia, status of a foreign text in the national canon;

- Russian revolution and new Russian society in the reception of foreign writers;

- Reception of western canonical authors and “great books” in Russia and mechanisms of cultural transfer;

- Destiny of classical canonical texts in times of great social changes;

- The canon formation under Soviet regime;

- Transformation of school canon after 1917;

- History of canonization and censorship in Russia;

- Translations of foreign literature in closed Soviet society.

We welcome proposals for 20 minutes papers. Papers should be submitted a week before the conference. Speakers will be divided into panels by three papers in each. Every panel will be assigned a discussant. The opponents will be provided with the papers of the participants in advance. The panel discussion will last for 30 minutes.
